How I Earn $7K–$8K Monthly on Fiverr: A Complete 5-Year Journey & Strategy Guide

Earn $7K–$8K Monthly on Fiverr In 5-Year Journey

This is my Fiverr account where I make $7 to $8,000 every month. In this video, I’m going to share everything that I have learned over the last 5 years working on Fiverr full-time. Over this time, I have completed over 2,000 orders and got more than 1,000 ratings. I’ll walk you through the exact strategies that I used to scale my Fiverr business so that you can make your first $1,000, $10,000 or even $100,000.

I right now have nine Fiverr gigs, out of which six rank on the first page—one for video editing, one for social media videos, wedding videos, travel vlogs, corporate videos, and even real estate videos. All these gigs consistently rank on the first page and that is one of the major reasons why I have made so much money on Fiverr and that is one of the major reasons why I got the Top Rated Seller badge on Fiverr.

So in this video, I’ll walk you through the entire process step-by-step. Here is what you’ll learn:

  • What is Fiverr and how it works

  • How to create an account and gig (with a live example)

  • Key elements of a successful gig

  • How to do market research

  • How to find high-volume keywords

  • How to design thumbnails that grab attention

  • How to understand and use the Fiverr algorithm

By the time we finish editing this article, the gig that we created already got some orders. This is the gig that we created, and it already has two orders. It’s performing really well, and you can see it has a click-through rate of 6% and a conversion rate of 8.3%. So make sure you read this article till the end because it will tell you everything that you need to know about Fiverr.

Before we start—83% of the people who consistently watch this channel do not subscribe. If you have ever found any value in the videos that I make, please do me a favor and hit that subscribe button. It helps us more than you know. The more we grow, the better content I can create for you.

That being said, let’s start the article.

What is Fiverr and How It Works

First, let’s talk about what Fiverr is.

Okay, so picture this: you’re actually great at something. Perhaps it’s graphic design, content writing, digital marketing, or in my case, video editing. Now you wish to make a living out of this skill, but you don’t know where to get clients. This is where Fiverr comes in.

Fiverr is an online platform where individuals like you and me who have some skills want to make a living out of it. We use our skill and provide something valuable to clients. For example, my skills were expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. Using that, I can edit videos for clients—that’s the service that I’m providing.

So Fiverr is a really big virtual marketplace where instead of selling physical goods, we sell skills and services.

Now here is why Fiverr is such a great place to start. In just last 1 month, over 80 million people visited Fiverr. Now that’s a crazy number already. Out of that, 4 million are active buyers who spend over $1 billion on the platform annually. So there’s a really big opportunity if you are serious about making money using your skill.

How Fiverr Works

Now let’s talk about how Fiverr works. It’s pretty simple actually.

You as a freelancer will go and create a profile and create gigs. Gigs are brief descriptions of services which tell the client what you are offering, how much you’re charging for it, and how much time you’ll take.

Now clients, when they come to the platform, scroll through thousands of gigs and profiles and then select the one they like and purchase the service. So let me give you an example. Let’s say if you go to Fiverr and search for “video editing,” a lot of profiles and gigs will show up along with my profile. Now as a client, if you like what you see, you’ll click on my profile. After seeing the pricing packages and my work—if you’re convinced—you’ll purchase the package.

Now let’s say you purchase the basic package of $100, for which you’ll get a 1-minute video. Once the client purchases it, I’ll get an order on my dashboard, inside which I can see what clients want, what requirements are there. I’ll review everything and start working.

I get a separate chat box with the client where I can discuss some details, and I’ll get a specific time frame to complete the order. Once done, I’ll deliver the project. If the client likes it, he’ll approve it. If not, the client usually has four or five revisions where we’ll work together till the client is happy with the work.

Now once the client approves the order, the payment will be released from Fiverr and I’ll receive it. So let’s say if the order was $100, Fiverr will take 20% from it and I’ll receive the $80.

Why Fiverr Takes 20%

Now you might ask: why is Fiverr taking 20% on each order? That’s because in return, they’re providing a platform for you to work on. They’re doing sales and marketing for you. They’re providing a safe system where your payment is on hold, which helps avoid any frauds. And you’ll also get customer support just in case something goes wrong.

Why Fiverr is a Great Place to Start

One of the most wonderful things about Fiverr is that there is a lot of variety that you can choose from. There are more than 600 categories ranging from content writing, video and animation, digital marketing, AI and a lot more. Whatever your talent is, it’s likely someone wants to pay you for it.

I have now made almost ₹2 crore on Fiverr and if I can do it, you can do it too.

Let’s start with creating your account and your first gig.

Creating Your Fiverr Account

Okay, now let’s start with creating your Fiverr account.

To do that, go to fiverr.com and once you enter that, it will ask you to create an account. So once you go to fiverr.com, on the top right you can click on Join. Once you click on it, you can create your Fiverr account. I would suggest you connect your Google account here—click on Continue with Google. After that, you can enter the details.

Now once you’re done, you’ll get this option to become a seller—you need to click on it. After you click on it, you need to enter all the details. Fiverr will also provide you with some instructions. For example, they’ll provide a step-by-step procedure for what you should do.

So first you’ll learn what makes a successful profile. Then you need to create a profile. And then you need to publish a gig.

Important Guidelines Before You Start

After this, Fiverr gives you five points about what makes a successful Fiverr profile, so read this carefully. This is very important—a lot of people make this mistake initially and their account is suspended. So make sure you avoid all of this:

  1. Don’t provide misleading or inaccurate information about yourself.

  2. Don’t try to create multiple accounts—it is not allowed.

  3. Don’t violate any of Fiverr’s terms of service.

  4. Never ask clients to communicate outside of Fiverr.

  5. Never request payments outside of Fiverr.

These are basic points, but many new users ignore them. I get messages from a lot of people whose accounts were suspended within one week because they made one of these mistakes.

Setting Up Your Seller Profile

Now you need to fill in these details to create your seller account.

  • Personal Info: Write your full name here.

  • Display Name: This is what will be visible to clients. A lot of people write very random things here—don’t. Use your actual name or a professional brand name.

  • Profile Picture: Use a photo where your face is clearly visible.

  • Description: I’ll tell you later how to write a professional About Me section. For now, just add a placeholder.

  • Languages: Select the languages you speak fluently.

  • Click Continue.

Selecting Your Occupation and Skills

Now you need to select your occupation. Fiverr gives you multiple industry options such as:

  • Digital Marketing

  • Graphic Design

  • Writing and Translation

  • Video and Animation (this is mine)

  • Business

  • Programming & Tech

  • Lifestyle, etc.

For me, it’s Video and Animation.

Now select how much experience you have and your subcategory. For me, it’s:

  • Video Ads

  • Commercial Videos

  • Music Videos

  • Slideshows

  • Visual Effects, etc.

Then add secondary profession if applicable (e.g., Graphic Design). You can select up to 5 subcategories—do that! It helps Fiverr understand what you’re selling and recommend you to ideal clients.

Adding Skills, Education & Verification

  • Skills: Add general and software-specific skills. For me, it’s video editing, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, etc.

  • Education: Add your degree (optional, but helpful).

  • Certifications: If you have any, list them.

  • Personal Website: Add it if you have one.

Once done, verify your email and phone number. Your account will be ready.

It will now say: “Your Seller Profile is All Set. Now Go Ahead and Create Your First Gig.”
Click on Done, and it will take you to the gig creation screen.

Creating Your First Gig

To create a gig, go to:
My Business > Gigs > Create a New Gig

Before doing that, you need to decide:

  • What you’ll sell

  • What category and subcategory it falls under

  • What keywords you’ll target

To research this:

  1. Switch to Buyer Mode on Fiverr.

  2. Hover over your target category (mine is Video & Animation).

  3. Browse subcategories (e.g., Video Ads & Commercials).

  4. Look for top-ranking gigs.

    • Prioritize those with high number of orders in queue—it’s a good signal.

    • Heart/save them to a collection (e.g., name it “FIV Tutorial”).

    • Save 4–5 of the best performing gigs for inspiration.

Market Research: Gigs That Work

Go through your saved gigs and observe:

  • Gig title

  • Thumbnail & gig video

  • Description

  • Keywords

Create a document with these observations. This is your blueprint.

Once ready, click Create New Gig.

Writing the Gig Title and Selecting Categories

Let’s take inspiration from the top sellers, but also be authentic.

Example title:
“I will professionally edit your video ad or brand video”

This contains:

  • “Professionally”

  • “Video Ad”

  • “Brand Video”
→ All keywords clients might search.

Now select:

  • Category: Video & Animation

  • Subcategory: Video Ads & Commercials

Subcategories matter a lot—they define where and how your gig is shown on Fiverr. See which ones your competitors use.

Gig Metadata & Search Tags

Gig Metadata varies by industry.

For me:

  • Platform: Facebook

  • Video Type: Live Action

  • Orientation: Landscape

Search Tags (positive keywords):

  • Video ads

  • Video editor

  • YouTube video ads

  • Commercial video

You can update these later if impressions are low.

Negative Keywords: I leave these blank but use them if your service is frequently misinterpreted.

Scope and Pricing: Setting Up Your Packages

Now here comes scope and pricing. You can name your packages and then add details. I usually stick to the same: Basic, Standard, and Premium.

If you’re confused about all this, again you can go to your competitors’ profiles and see what they’ve done.

For Basic, I’ll do something very similar:
30 seconds video ad, stock footage, licensed soundtrack, and voice over.
Delivery time: 3–4 days (but if you’re new, offer 1–2 days for faster client acquisition).
Services: Video editing, script if needed
Revisions: 3
Video length: 30 seconds
Video orientation: 1
Voice-over: Yes
Price: $100

For Standard:

  • Duration: 60 seconds

  • Delivery time: 6 days

  • More revisions

  • 2 video orientations

  • Price: $180

For Premium:

  • Duration: 120 seconds

  • Delivery: 5–7 days

  • Unlimited or 10+ revisions

  • Voice-over and all features

  • Price: $250

Gig Extras: Upsell Like a Pro

You can also add additional extras:

  • Extra time: For example, if someone needs a 1-minute video inside Basic, charge $15 extra for 30 seconds.

  • Fast delivery: This is a great trick. If I normally charge $100 for 4–5 day delivery, I charge $100 more for 1–2 day delivery, and many clients accept it.

  • Extra revisions: $25 per additional revision.

  • Subscriptions: Not recommended for beginners.

Click Continue once done.

Description and FAQs

Now you have to write your gig description.

If you’re good at writing—great. But if not, I’ll show you how to do it with ChatGPT:

Use this prompt:

“Help me write a Fiverr gig description. Make sure the description is filled with high-volume keywords. Keep the tone professional. Here are some competitors’ profile descriptions for reference:”

Paste 2–3 competitor descriptions in quotes.

Then add:

“Here’s my title: I will professionally edit video ads and brand videos.”

The output will be strong. You can always ask ChatGPT to shorten it if it exceeds Fiverr’s 1,200-character limit.

Once finalized:

  • Bold important phrases like “Professional Video Editor”, “5 Years of Experience”, “Why Choose Me”, etc.

  • Avoid making everything bold—just highlight key selling points.

FAQs and Requirements

FAQs: Add at least 5–6. Examples:

  • Why should I choose you?

  • What’s included in the price?

  • How do I send you files?

  • What formats do you deliver in?

Requirements (what buyer fills out after ordering):

  1. Submit all media files (Free text)

  2. Submit background music if needed

  3. Submit all project details

Check “Required” to ensure order doesn’t start without these.

Click Save and Continue.

Gig Media: Images and Videos

This part is critical—a gig with video performs 40% better.

  • Upload a video: Show a cinematic montage, portfolio clips, or you speaking. For video ads, use a showreel.

  • Thumbnail: This will be auto-generated from the video, but make sure the frame is compelling. You can change it once the video is approved.

  • Gig Images: Add 2–3. Mine is branded—”Video Ads and Video Editing”.

  • Documents: You can add a PDF portfolio if you’re not in video editing.

Check the box confirming all media is your own, then click Save and Continue.

Gig Preview and Final Touches

Click Save and Preview to see how it looks.

For example:

“I will professionally edit your video ads or brand video”

You’ll see:

  • Pricing Packages

  • About Me section

  • Media previews

Once the video is approved, update your thumbnail, as that’s what clients see in search.

Your gig now appears in your My Gigs dashboard. You can monitor:

  • Impressions

  • Clicks

  • Orders

  • Cancellations

You can also:

  • Limit orders in queue (in case of too much workload)

  • Enable Watermark protection

  • Track gig performance: CTR, conversions, etc.

Managing Orders and Communication

From your homepage, you’ll see:

  • Active Orders

  • Orders in Revision

  • Delivered

  • Completed

  • Canceled

Set availability if you’re going on a break (your gigs will be hidden).

Use Inbox and Notifications for all communication.

Inside each order:

  • View client requirements

  • Use dedicated chatbox

  • Send updates, files, and final delivery

If clients need a custom offer, you can send it directly via inbox:

  • Select gig

  • Choose single payment/hourly/milestone

  • Set delivery time, price, revisions

  • Send message with the offer

Once accepted, the order appears under Orders > Active.

In the next section, I’ll cover:

  • Fiverr Seller Levels

  • Success Score

  • Fiverr Algorithm (CTR, Conversion Rate, Ranking Strategy)

Understanding Fiverr Seller Levels

To really grow on Fiverr, you need to understand Fiverr Seller Levels.

Fiverr has a system for freelancers designed to reward high-performing sellers with:

  • More visibility

  • Better platform features

  • Increased earning potential

As you progress through levels, you unlock more features to help scale your business.

There are four seller levels on Fiverr:

1. New Seller

This is where everyone starts when they create an account.

2. Level One Seller

To go from New Seller to Level One, you must:

  • Complete 5 orders

  • Get 3 unique clients

  • Earn more than $400

  • Maintain a 5+ success score

  • Keep a response rate of 80%

  • Hold a rating of 4.4+

3. Level Two Seller

To reach Level Two, you need:

  • 20 completed orders

  • 10 unique clients

  • $2,000+ in earnings

  • 7+ success score

  • 90% response rate

  • 4.6+ rating

4. Top Rated Seller

This is different. After reaching Level Two, to become Top Rated:

  • Complete 40+ orders

  • 20+ unique clients

  • Earn over $10,000

  • Maintain a 9+ success score

  • Keep 90% response rate

  • Maintain a 4.7+ rating

After meeting these, Fiverr will manually evaluate your account. A team member will:

  • Review your order history

  • Review client chats

  • Judge your overall professionalism

Only then will you be awarded the Top Rated Seller badge.

Benefits of Top Rated Seller

Once you get the Top Rated badge:

  • Early payout: Payments clear in 7 days (instead of 14)

  • Priority support: You get faster help

  • Increased trust: Buyers are more likely to order from you

What Are the Key Fiverr Metrics?

Let’s break down each metric:

1. Rating

This is your average public review score over the past 2 years.

2. Response Rate

Percentage of how often you respond within 24 hours.

3. Orders

Total number of completed orders.

4. Unique Clients

Each new client counts once, no matter how many orders.

5. Earnings

Total amount you’ve earned.

6. Success Score

This is crucial. It’s based on:

  • Client satisfaction

  • Effective communication

  • Conflict-free orders

  • Delivery time

  • Value for money

  • Order cancellations

Each gig has its own score. Fiverr takes the average of all active gigs to calculate your overall Success Score.

Success Score: The Game Changer

The Success Score affects your:

  • Visibility in search

  • Ranking

  • Level progress

Fiverr evaluates these metrics daily.

If you maintain all six key metrics, you can level up. But if any top-row metrics (Success Score, Rating, Response Rate) fall below the level requirement, you’ll enter a 30-day grace period.

If not improved, you’ll be demoted.

Why Do Fiverr Levels Matter?

Your Fiverr Level:

  • Builds credibility

  • Signals professionalism

  • Boosts conversion rate

When clients search for services, they see your Seller Level badge. Higher-level sellers typically get more orders.

But levels are not permanent. If your performance drops, your level can too fiverr account for sale.

So always aim to:

  • Deliver high-quality work

  • Maintain great communication

  • Provide a smooth buyer experience

Understanding the Fiverr Algorithm

Now let’s talk about something that most sellers ignore—the Fiverr Algorithm.

Why is it important?

Because there’s a reason some gigs appear on Page 1 and others don’t. There are thousands of gigs, but only a few rank. Those that do follow certain key rules.

Here’s what Fiverr tracks:

  • Impressions

  • Clicks

  • Conversion Rate

  • Private Reviews

  • Delivery Quality

  • Client Satisfaction

  • Order Cancellations

You can’t trick the algorithm—you have to work with it.

Key #1: Impressions – How to Get Seen

Fiverr scans your:

  • Gig Title

  • Gig Description

  • Category

  • Tags

To determine where to show your gig.

To increase impressions:

  • Use high-volume keywords

  • Choose the right category and subcategory

  • Include keywords in both title and description

Also:

  • Create multiple gigs (up to 4 as a new seller)

  • Mix between broad keywords and niche services

My strategy:

  • 1 General gig (e.g., “Video Editing”)

  • 3 Niche gigs (e.g., “Wedding Videos”, “Travel Vlogs”, “Corporate Reels”)

Formula:
→ Keywords + Niche gigs + Optimization = More Impressions

Key #2: Click-Through Rate (CTR) – How to Get Clicks

CTR = Clicks ÷ Impressions

If many people see your gig but don’t click, Fiverr assumes you’re not offering something attractive.

To improve CTR:

  • Create eye-catching thumbnails

  • Upload a video gig that auto-plays

  • Use professional titles with keywords

  • Show your face in talking gigs or cinematic clips in video work

You have 2 seconds to make them click.

Formula:
→ Relevant keywords + Great thumbnail + Strong gig video = Higher CTR

Key #3: Conversion Rate – How to Get Orders

Now people are seeing your gig and clicking—but are they buying?

Fiverr wants to promote gigs that convert.

What matters:

  • Pricing that makes sense

  • Reviews

  • Strong portfolio

  • Clear description

  • Fast delivery

  • Premium-looking images and videos

Formula:
→ Strong offers + Exceptional portfolio + Reviews = High Conversions

Final Tips for Fiverr Success

Once clients order:

  • Go above and beyond

  • Deliver faster than expected

  • Ask clarifying questions

  • Be polite, clear, and helpful

Good client experience leads to:

  • Repeat buyers

  • Public reviews

  • Private reviews (crucial!)

Fiverr asks buyers to give a private review after delivery. This has a huge impact. Clients are 100% honest here.

The full buyer journey matters—from first click to final delivery.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Never take clients outside Fiverr

  • Don’t ask for reviews

  • Avoid underpricing your services

  • Don’t delay deliveries

  • Always use licensed content

Fiverr is not a platform for cheap labor—clients want quality + fast turnaround.

Final Words

By now we’ve covered:

  • Creating your profile

  • Researching the market

  • Writing a top-performing gig

“Where do I begin?”

Here’s a quick action plan:

  1. Create your Fiverr profile today. Don’t overthink it. Start.

  2. Follow each step outlined in this guide—set up your gig with the right keywords, media, and pricing.

  3. Research 5 top sellers in your niche and save their gigs for inspiration.

  4. Use ChatGPT to write a strong, keyword-optimized description and About Me section.
